Laura Duzett, NTP is a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and osteopathic medical student. She left her first career in technology program management after sustaining a traumatic brain injury and discovering the power that nutrition can have on influencing the body’s natural ability to heal. This led to a profound desire to understand the complex interplay between the human body, the environment, and the disease processes that can result, so she went back to school to fill up her newly-healed brain with as much of this knowledge as she could.
Shortly after the accident, she developed severe dyshidrotic eczema on her hands due to systemic nickel allergy and was placed on a low nickel diet. Being conscious of how important nutrition can be to the healing process, she was disappointed to find few resources for those who wish to eat a simple but high quality, health-promoting version of the diet, so she set out to develop the book “The Low Nickel Diet: A Holistic Approach to Systemic Nickel Allergy” and this website for others with similar needs.
Laura is strongly driven by a passion for increasing patient and provider nutrition education as well as improving their access to high-quality, intelligible information with easy-to-implement solutions. She has taught many nutrition courses in her community and helped to develop the first clinical nutrition elective at Touro University. She looks forward to graduating in 2025.
