This is a great side dish. Depending on the saltiness of your bacon, you may not need to add salt to this recipe.
Ingredients
1 lb brussels sprouts (whole or sliced in half)
2 tsp lard, butter, or olive oil
1 medium green apple
4-6 slices bacon
1/2 Tbsp rosemary finely chopped (fresh is preferred but not required)
Additional salt & pepper* to taste
Preparation
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
Grease a baking sheet.
Toss the brussel sprouts in olive oil and salt and pepper as desired.
Place evenly on the sheet.
Bake for 20 minutes.
In the meantime, chop bacon into ~1” pieces and begin to sauté in a skillet.
While that is cooking, chop the apple into ½-1 inch cubes.
Add the apple and rosemary once the bacon is about 75% done and continue sauteéing until the apple has gone a little soft.
Once the brussel sprouts are done, mix them with the apple-bacon mix and serve.
