This is a great side dish. Depending on the saltiness of your bacon, you may not need to add salt to this recipe.

  • Ingredients

    • 1 lb brussels sprouts (whole or sliced in half)

    • 2 tsp lard, butter, or olive oil

    • 1 medium green apple

    • 4-6 slices bacon

    • 1/2 Tbsp rosemary finely chopped (fresh is preferred but not required)

    • Additional salt & pepper* to taste

  • Preparation

    • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.

    • Grease a baking sheet.

    • Toss the brussel sprouts in olive oil and salt and pepper as desired.

    • Place evenly on the sheet.

    • Bake for 20 minutes.

    • In the meantime, chop bacon into ~1” pieces and begin to sauté in a skillet.

    • While that is cooking, chop the apple into ½-1 inch cubes.

    • Add the apple and rosemary once the bacon is about 75% done and continue sauteéing until the apple has gone a little soft.

    • Once the brussel sprouts are done, mix them with the apple-bacon mix and serve.
